Terms of Service

Last updated 13 September 2026.

1. Who these terms are between

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you ("Customer", "you") and Wardris, a sole trader established in Malta ("Wardris", "we", "us"). By creating an account, purchasing a license, or using the Wardris Portal at portal.wardris.com, you agree to these Terms.

2. What we provide

Wardris develops and licenses two self-hosted software products, Wardris Gate (an API gateway) and Wardris Rules (a decision engine), distributed as Docker images you run on your own infrastructure. We also operate the Wardris Portal, a hosted service for account management, license issuance, and billing.

We do not host, operate, or have access to your running instances of Gate or Rules, the data that passes through them, or your downstream systems. Your use of the software itself is governed by the End-User License Agreement ("EULA") included with each product; these Terms govern your account and your relationship with us as a customer, not the software license itself.

3. Accounts

  • You sign in to the Portal via Google or GitHub. You're responsible for keeping that account secure, and for all activity under it.
  • You must provide accurate account and billing information and keep it up to date.
  • We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, to violate these Terms, or to abuse the Portal or license validation service.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

  • Paid tiers are billed in advance on a recurring (monthly or annual) basis through Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details.
  • You can cancel or change your plan at any time from the Portal's "Manage billing" page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not offer refunds for the unused portion of a billing period.
  • If a payment fails, we (via Stripe) will retry it automatically. If it continues to fail, your license may be downgraded to the free Community tier after a grace period.
  • Prices may change; we'll give you reasonable notice before a change affects your renewal. Changing a price never retroactively affects an already-active subscription's current price — see the Portal's own pricing behaviour.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Portal or license validation service to circumvent tier limits you haven't paid for, or to probe, disrupt, or overload our infrastructure;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the license-signing private key or otherwise defeat the licensing mechanism, except as the EULA expressly permits;
  • Use the Portal to upload unlawful content, or use your account to impersonate another person or entity;
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide the software or your license key to third parties except as expressly permitted by the EULA.

6. Availability

The Portal (including license validation) is provided on a commercially reasonable-efforts basis. Gate and Rules are self-hosted — their availability and performance in your environment is your responsibility, not ours. If the Portal is briefly unreachable, running instances continue operating at their last validated tier for a grace period rather than losing functionality immediately (see the product documentation for the exact window).

We do not currently offer a formal uptime SLA or service credits on any tier.

7. Data and privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

8. Intellectual property

Wardris and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the Gate and Rules software, the Wardris name and marks, and the Portal. These Terms and the EULA grant you only the limited rights expressly stated in them — nothing here transfers ownership of any Wardris intellectual property to you.

9. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability

Except as expressly stated in the EULA, the Portal and the software are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wardris's total liability arising out of or related to these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (for example, liability for death, personal injury, or fraud).

10. Termination

You may stop using the Portal and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for a material breach of these Terms that you don't fix within a reasonable time after we notify you. On termination, your right to use paid-tier features ends; the software itself continues to run at whatever it was last validated at until it falls back to the Community tier per the EULA's grace-period terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify account holders (e.g. by email) before it takes effect.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
